Personal Profile

At a recent business breakfast I was tucking into my bacon and eggs when an observant colleague remarked, "I am surprised you’ve gone for the cooked breakfast - as a coach I thought you’d be into all that health and fitness stuff!”

As a coach, I’m focused on where people are in their lives right now, and on moving them forward to be the person they want to be. This may include working on their health and fitness, but what my observant colleague hadn’t yet realized, it also involves exploring finances, relationships, self esteem, hobbies, life/work balance, values and personal belief systems, and career performance amongst other things.

My name is Andrew Pain and the road that led me to becoming a professional life coach, accredited with the International Coaching Federation, was a varied and challenging one. I have lived and worked in England, Mexico, France and El Salvador and am now settled in Birmingham (UK). After graduating from the University of Warwick, I began working for a FTSE 100 company in London, progressing rapidly to a team leader role, before establishing and managing my own UK practice, supplying professional services to the largest engineering consultants in the world. I have two daughters aged 8 and 5, and enjoy swimming, playing football, and snow- boarding – when possible (which isn’t often in Birmingham!)

Many moons ago, I was an accomplished trumpeter – I am now a rusty one – and I do honestly prefer bacon and eggs for breakfast to a bowl of cornflakes. I have known success and disappointment in my life, great joy and great despair, good health with my fair share of ailments, and I have experienced the raw reality of many of life’s tough challenges. Along with my comprehensive professional qualifications, I bring a wealth of personal experience to the coaching I extend.

I passionately believe that people hold their own keys to their destiny. It’s my privilege and role to help them find those keys, to discover which keys are the right ones, and to empower them to use those keys to unlock their vast potential. We all have incredible skills and inner qualities, but we often need help in order to see them, discover them, grasp them, and act on them.

Coaching is a long term solution which can make a deep and lasting impact on all areas of an individual’s life. Through effective coaching, I seek to enable every client to become:

* More focused
* Creative in finding the solutions to their own problems
* Motivated to fulfil their dreams and aspirations
* Enthusiastic about the present life and their future
* Aware of their own strengths and weaknesses, and which ones they are going to address.
